Franz was born in Colombia and built his career performing across international stages — from Celebrity Cruises and Royal Caribbean to Norwegian Cruise Line and Princess Cruises — where musical excellence wasn't optional, it was the standard. Jazz standards, Brazilian repertoire, Latin grooves, pop, soul — whatever the room called for, he delivered. He has perfect pitch, an unshakable sense of time, and the kind of musical memory that lets him step into any setting and immediately sound like he belongs. Nothing rattles him. Nothing is unfamiliar. He arrived in the San Francisco Bay Area carrying all of it.
Vintage Noise had always approached the Sinatra-Jobim repertoire with deep respect and hard-earned authenticity. Michael and Ed had built something real — a sound rooted in the tradition and honest to it. When Franz stepped in, something shifted. Not the foundation, but the possibilities. A bossa becomes a samba. A standard opens up in an unexpected direction. His technical command is such that the music doesn't just swing — it breathes differently. Franz brought color to a palette that was already rich, and in doing so gave Michael's vision more room to live in than it had ever had before.
