Over the years, the sound has been shaped by a circle of gifted musicians who’ve shared the bandstand, some from the very beginning, others who join whenever the calendar allows. These are some of the players who helped build Vintage Noise, and who keep it alive night after night.
Steve Larkin
A Santa Cruz bassist with Vintage Noise since 2014, on nearly every gig that mattered. He’s stepped back from late nights, but when he returns, everything settles.
David Boyden
Bay Area violinist and fiddler. Gypsy jazz, Scandinavian folk, and instruments most people have never heard of. With Vintage Noise since 2014, now based in Germany.
Caroline Chung
Oakland bassist, composer, and leader of Citizens Jazz. SFJAZZ debut behind her, two decades of doing it her own way. She makes the whole room swing harder.
Ricardo Silvestri
Bay Area guitarist, teacher at Showcase Music Institute, and the definition of a working musician. When Ricardo is on the bandstand, that part of the evening is handled.
Marty Honda
Bassist, co-leader of TC Jazz, monthly fixture at the GrandView. He also plays violin, which he mentions only when the moment calls for it. The moment always calls for it.
