Come up the hill. The valley spreads out below the windows, the week loosens its grip, and for a few hours you're somewhere that still swings.
We've been playing this room three years now — two nights a week, every week. Long enough that the regulars have favorite tables and we know their names. Michael Carter is out front, and beside him some of the best players in the Bay Area trade in and out: piano, upright bass, guitar, violin, whatever the night is asking for.
Many evenings carry a theme. Sinatra Under the Stars. The Sound of Jobim. L-O-V-E A Nat King Cole Tribute. A whole night given to one voice or one songwriter — and when the holidays roll in, the songs everyone already knows by heart, sung live a few feet from your table instead of piped through a speaker.
Good food, a glass of something, a view that does half our work for us, and music from a time when bossa was hot.
